Can an airsoft pistol use .2g bb's even if the specifications says velocity with a .12?

Well I want to buy a cheap $4 spring pistol just for some fun wager matches with friends, but on the site I'm buying it on, the specifications for distance say .12 bb, but can I still use .2 bbs for it?
