Is Hollywood Boulevard Safe at Night (above 8 pm)?

I'm planning to stay at Motel 6 Hollywood. I will be touring LA for a whole day then return to my hotel at around 8-9 pm using the metro. The hotel itself is actually not far from the metro, but I need to pass a small road to get to my hotel.
