I did some Research. 1950s Britain, with the death penalty in place, saw an average of three murders per year. Twenty first century Britain, without the death penalty in place, sees an average of one murder per week. interestingly 1950s Britain also had an extremely high private gun ownership. I think the facts speak for them selves, though facts, like common sense, don't seem to hold much weight in 21st century Britain do they.
